Second wine of Château Calon Ségur. Consulting oenologist: Éric Boissenot. Soil: thick layer of gravel deposited by the river in the quaternary period. The subsoil is predominantly clay of Tertiary age. At the top of the gravel deposits, there is also a thin layer of clay of lacustrine origin. Area under production: 45 hectares (50 hectares planted). Average age of the vines: 22 years. Double Guyot pruning. 8,000 vines per ha and yields of 45 hl per ha.
Manual harvesting. First control of the grapes on the vine. Vibrating screen and manual sorting table. Temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Vatting period of 18 to 21 days. 17 months maturation, 30% new barrels. Fining with egg white.
