Definition: wine competitions

The International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), which replaced the International Office of Vine and Wine, was created by the Agreement of 3 April 2001. The OIV is defined as an intergovernmental scientific and technical organisation with recognised expertise in the field of vines, wine, wine-based beverages, table grapes, raisins and other vine products. The OIV pursues the same objectives by sponsoring quality wine competitions.
