Definition: Viticulture

The art and science of vine cultivation. The profession encompasses all the knowledge required for this specialised cultivation of grapes for wine production, table grapes or raisins. Viticulture is mainly developed in temperate regions, both in the northern hemisphere (32 to 51 degrees north) and in the southern hemisphere (28 to 42 degrees south). This great climatic diversity, like that of the grape varieties cultivated, leads to a remarkably varied production.
