Mâconnais region in Burgundy. Production area located about fifteen kilometres north of Mâcon, on the right bank of the Saône, more precisely within the municipalities of Clessé, Laizé, Montbellet and Viré in the Saône-et-Loire department. Classified as a communal AOC in 1999. The label may bear the words "vin de Mâcon" or "grand Vin de Mâcon". Delimited area: just over 540 hectares. White grape variety: Chardonnay. Vinified exclusively as a dry white wine. It can be kept for 3 to 4 years, or even longer, depending on the vintage. Ideal serving temperature: between 8 and 10°C. Pair with: sea or river fish, cod in cream sauce, pork liver pâté, fillets of lemon sole with sorrel or red mullet Catalan style.
