While its commercial ambassadors travel throughout Europe and ships transport its bottles across the world's oceans, it personally takes care of its cellars, adopting the motto "only one quality, the very best". Eager to obtain the clearest, cleanest and most limpid wines, she developed the riddling table. Plot by plot, she acquired vineyards in the best crus, thus building up the House's exceptional wine-growing heritage.
Her contemporaries already considered her a grande dame, the "grande dame of Champagne".
She passed away in 1866 at her château in Boursault, overlooking the Marne, surrounded by her loved ones, whom she cherished with tenderness and generosity.
Today, she reigns supreme on every bottle sold by the House, presiding over an empire of bubbles prized by all lovers of excellent champagne.
