Definition: Trappist

There are only six Trappist breweries left in the world, five of which are in Belgium: Chimay (Abbaye de Notre Dame de Scourmont), Orval (Abbaye de Notre Dame d'Orval), Rochefort (Abbaye de Notre Dame de Sacré-Cœur), Westvleteren (Abbaye de Notre Dame de St-Sixtus) and the last one in Holland, La Trappe.

Only Trappist beers are authentic abbey beers, as they are still brewed in the abbey itself.
