In French-speaking Switzerland: a rustic meal cooked over hot coals in the open air, where sausages are grilled and potatoes are baked. From the Latin torrere, to grill, to burn. In autumn, it is customary to have a torrée in green pastures or clearings with a beautiful central fire. This type of picnic with family and friends is a real treat.
