Definition: Terroir

Back

A wine is also said to have 'a taste of terroir', i.e. the particular flavour of its origin, characteristic of great wines. On the other hand, the expression 'terroite' was once pejorative, meaning that the wine had a rustic and simple taste of terroir. Today, it has become a quality, compared to varietal wines.
