Definition: Temperance

A temperance society is an association that fights against alcohol abuse. The Blue Cross is a humanitarian institution founded in Switzerland in 1877 to help people addicted to alcohol. A diaconal organisation, the Blue Cross is non-denominational and respects each individual's journey.

Today, in a changing world, the Blue Cross is taking up the challenge of reconciling fidelity to its vocation with modernism. In this spirit, it is adapting its activities and taking into account dependencies on other psychotropic substances.
