The pearl of Anjou, in the heart of the Loire region, this magnificent city dug out of deep cellars produces excellent red wines, fine and relatively full-bodied, made from Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pineau d'Aunis. The whites, which are either very dry or sweet, are made from a minimum of 80% Chenin Blanc. The sparkling whites are supposed to be superior to those of the Anjou AOC, although this is not always the case.
