Definition: Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil AOC

Touraine region. Production area located within plots in the commune of Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, in the Indre-et-Loire department, on the right bank of the Loire, bordering the Maine-et-Loire department. Classified as a communal AOC in 1937. Area under production: just over 930 hectares. Black grape varieties: Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon (maximum 10%). Mainly vinified as rosé and red wines. Can be stored: ages very well in bottles, long-term storage depending on the vintage, up to 20 years for some. Ideal serving temperature: red, between 13 and 14°C; between 16 and 17°C for an older wine. Pair with: red, rabbit stew, pork tenderloin, roast beef or tournedos with green pepper sauce.
