A tributary of the Moselle, it forms a steep-sided valley that is home to prestigious German vineyards, part of the renowned Mosel-Saar-Ruwer wine region. The wines of this region, with its harsh climate, come from a slate terroir. One of the main grape varieties is Riesling, which, in this magnificent terroir, expresses a remarkable bouquet and a very strong personality. Of particular note is the village of Wiltingen with its famous Scharzhofberg vineyard and the renowned producer Egon Müller.
