Definition: Rèze

A white grape variety native to Valais, probably corresponding to Pliny's uva raetica. More lively and acidic than Fendant, which has replaced it almost everywhere, this variety was the basis for glacier wine and is still cultivated in Upper Valais. See glacier (wine).
