Definition: Recioto

In Italy, mainly a red wine from Veneto, made from grapes stored on racks or hung up to concentrate their flavour, for the production of dessert wines. It is a wine with an intense colour, bittersweet but very smooth, made from raisined grapes and reminiscent of port. It is made from the same grape varieties as Valpolicella.
