Definition: Primat

A very large bottle with a capacity of 26 litres (34 bottles of 75 cl), weighing 11 kilos on its own. This was the name given, first in the Eastern Church and later in the Western Church, to prelates who had a certain jurisdiction over several archdioceses. A primate is an archbishop who claims primacy over one or more ecclesiastical provinces.
