Back The Petit Chablis AOC is the first level of appellation for wines from this vineyard. These wines are best enjoyed young and are appreciated for their freshness and liveliness. The appellation does not benefit from the same Kimmeridgian soil as the other Chablis appellations. It is somewhat the primeur wine of Chablis. Petit-Chablis = vineyards located on the plateaus on the outskirts of the appellation, planted area 535 ha, compared to Chablis AOC = vineyards located on the hillsides, planted area 2,797 ha, 40 Chablis Premier Cru vineyards, covering 740 ha planted on both the right and left banks of the Serein, the best known of which are: Montée de Tonnerre, Fourchaume, Vaillon, Côte de Léchet and Mont de Milieu. Finally, Chablis Grand Cru, 100 hectares stretching in a crescent shape on the right bank of the Serein, opposite the village of Chablis. They benefit from a south/south-west exposure for optimal sunshine. There are seven of them: Les Blanchots (13 hectares), Les Clos (26 hectares), Bougros (13 hectares), Vaudésir (15 hectares), Valmur (13 hectares), Les Grenouilles (9 hectares) and Les Preuses (11 hectares).
