Classified as an AOC with vintages classified in 1937. Area under production: just over 1,500 hectares. Produced as: dry white and red wines. White grape varieties: Muscadelle, Sauvignon (minimum 25%) and Sémillon; red grape varieties: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, Côt (or Malbec), Merlot, and Petit Verdot.Can be stored for: 5 to 15 years. Ideal serving temperature: between 10 and 11°C for white; between 16 and 18°C for red. Pair with: white wine with seafood or shellfish, grilled salmon with speckled sauce, white meat, or hard cheese; red wine with pheasant and cabbage, duck à l'orange, quail en papillote with figs, or red meat.
