Back Appellation of the Bergerac region. Production areas for Côtes-de-Montravel, within the municipalities of Bonneville and Saint-Avit de Fumadières, Lamothe-Montravel, Montcaret, Montpeyroux, Montazeau, Port-Sainte-Foy and Pontchat, Saint-Méard-de-Gurçon, Saint-Michel-de-Montaigne and Saint-Vivien in the department of Dordogne; for Haut-Montravel, within the municipalities of Fougueyrolles, Nastringues, Port-Sainte-Foy and Pontchapt, Saint-Antoine-de-Breuilh and Vélines, also in the Dordogne department, all on the right bank of the river of the same name. Classified as an AOC in 1937. Area under production: just under 100 hectares, including nearly 60 hectares in Côtes-de-Montravel. White grape varieties: Muscadelle, Sauvignon and Sémillon. Vinified as sweet and mellow whites. It can be kept for 8 to 10 years, or even longer, depending on the vintage. Ideal serving temperature: between 6 and 8°C. Enjoy with: duck à l'orange or foie gras.
