Back Libournais region in Bordeaux. Production area located about 40 kilometres east of Bordeaux, northeast of Saint-Émilion, more precisely within the boundaries of the commune of Montagne (including the localities of Saint-Georges and Parsac), in the Gironde department. Classified as a communal AOC in 1936. Area under production: nearly 1,600 hectares. Black grape varieties: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Côt (or Pressac or Malbec) and Merlot. Vinified as red wine only. Ageing potential: can be very interesting in its early years, but in many cases it will need to be left for a few years. Ideal serving temperature: between 15 and 16°C. Pair with: poultry, veal kidneys à la Bordelaise or escalopes à la Basquaise.
