Back
Bergerac region. Production area located south of Bergerac, on the left bank of the Dordogne, more precisely within the municipalities of Colombier, Monbazillac, Pomport, Rouffignac-de-Sigoulès and Saint-Laurent-des-Vignes, in the Dordogne department. Under certain conditions, the plots in these municipalities can produce dry Bergerac or Côtes de Bergerac wines. Classified as an AOC in 1992. White grape varieties: Muscadelle, Sauvignon and Sémillon. Vinified exclusively as sweet white wines, non-sparkling. They must be made from botrytised grapes harvested manually in successive passes. Area under production: nearly 1,930 hectares. It can be kept for a very long time. This south-western vineyard produces Sauternes-style wines that offer excellent value for money. These are rich and intensely sweet whites that can be aged for between 7 and 20 years. Ideal serving temperature: between 6 and 8°C. Enjoy with: excellent foie gras, pork loin with apricots or rhubarb and raspberry cream.
