Back Work carried out on vineyard soil to prepare it for new planting. The land must be cleared of grass and scrub, then ploughed to a depth of 60 to 80 cm. This deep ploughing is often carried out using a mechanical digger or bulldozer. The soil is also broken up using explosives, which simultaneously allows the old vines to be uprooted and replaced. This deep soil preparation is used to improve drainage and enrich the soil.
