Back If it is a privilege to bear the name of its appellation, there is no doubt that Château Margaux does it proud. For several centuries, this premier cru has expressed the exceptional qualities of terroirs patiently assembled by several generations of owners. Maintained and harvested exclusively by hand with extreme care, the 90 hectares of vines draw their richness from particularly dense and thick clay-gravel soil. Fermentation in oak vats, followed by rigorous selection of the wine, is followed by 18 to 24 months of ageing in new oak barrels. A masterpiece among Bordeaux wines, considered by some to be the best, Château Margaux reveals finesse and opulence, depth and complexity on tasting, developing a bouquet of rare elegance with notes of rose, violet and black fruits, underpinned by tight tannins that require patient ageing before they can blossom. Red wine area under cultivation: 78 hectares, Cabernet Sauvignon 75%, Merlot 20%, Petit Verdot 3%. White wine, 12 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc. Château Margaux's Pavillon Blanc is entitled to the Bordeaux AOC appellation.
