Côte-de-Beaune region. Production area located about twenty kilometres south-west of Beaune, extending from the Côte of the same name, more precisely within the municipalities of Cheilly-Lès-Maranges, Dezize-Lès-Maranges and Campigny-Lès-Maranges, in the Saône-et-Loire department, very close to the Côte-d'Or department. Classified as an AOC. Communal with premier crus in 1989. Area under production: nearly 181 hectares, with just over 3 hectares producing white Maranges. The boundary covers a total of 235 hectares, 107 of which are classified as premier cru. White grape varieties: Chardonnay; grey: Pinot Beurot; black: Pinot Noir and Pinot Liébault. The incorporation of a certain number of white and grey grape varieties such as Chardonnay and Pinots into the vineyards intended for producing red wines is still authorised, provided that they do not exceed 15%. Vinified into: white and red wines. For the latter, the Maranges-Côte-de-Beaune appellation may be claimed. It can be kept for: 4 to 6 years, or even longer depending on the premier cru and the vintage. Ideal serving temperature: between 8 and 10°C for white wine; between 16 and 17°C for red wine. Pairings: white wine with fish or shellfish; red wine with venison, Charolais beef rib, rabbit chasseur, partridge with cabbage or hare stew.
