Definition: Malt

Barley that has been artificially germinated, dried and ground into flour, used in the production of beer and malt whisky. Malt whisky must be distilled exclusively from malted barley. "Pure malt" is a blend of several malt whiskies, while "single malt" comes from a single distillery. Bourbons are produced from corn.
