Definition: Malmsey

Madeira produced from the Malvasia grape variety, which produces a dark, sweet wine with a honey flavour and a pleasant structure. Ideal as a digestif after a good meal. With age, this type of Madeira tends to become drier. Other less prestigious varieties are called Malmsey sweet or rich.
