Definition: Macvin

Back

The five Jura grape varieties, Trousseau, Poulsard, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Savagnin, listed in the Jura, are all authorised for use in the production of musts intended for Macvin du Jura. Macvin du Jura can therefore be white or red, although most winegrowers produce it as a white wine.

Served chilled, it is a very pleasant aperitif, bringing out the fruitiness of the fresh grapes, with a final bouquet of marc. Macvin has an average alcohol content of 18%. It can be served chilled as an aperitif, with melon or vanilla and honey ice cream.
