Definition: Klevner

Back

To add to the confusion, Alsatians use the term klevner to refer to both a Pinot Blanc wine and a blend of Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois. In Switzerland, however, on the shores of Lake Zurich, klevner is simply a red wine made from Pinot Noir, also known as Blauburgunder.

This should not be confused with Heiligenstein klevner, the name of a Savagnin Rosé grape variety grown in Alsace in the commune of Heiligenstein.
