Definition: Humagne Rouge

An old red grape variety from Valais, of uncertain origin. Ampelographically, this grape variety does not exist. The vast majority of the Valais wine world believes it to be the Oriou from the Aosta Valley. Rarely planted, it is currently enjoying renewed interest due to its vigour and its wild notes, which combine the fragrances of heathland and wild berries. Humagne Rouge, produced in limited quantities, is well worth tasting.
