Definition: Hergé - Tintin and alcohol

Back

Well, this whisky does indeed exist! But only since 1965, when the distillery was founded in Scotland, i.e. after its appearance in Hergé's albums.

A loch in Scotland is simply a lake. Loch Lomond happens to be the largest lake in Great Britain. In terms of volume, however, Loch Ness, yes, the one with the monster, comes first, with Loch Lomond in second place.

"Tintin and Alcohol" (Tintin et l'Alcool, © Bertrand Boulin, © 1995, Éd. Chapitre Douze) is a book that was published without authorisation and withdrawn from sale upon its release because it dealt with alcohol. A controversial book, even a textbook case. So poorly conceived, the lawyers of Moulinsart S.A. had no trouble getting it banned, leading to the logical end result of it being frantically sought after by collectors. Written by a former alcoholic, this book, which has nothing to do with its real subject matter, is poorly written, poorly edited, roughly laid out, and amateurishly published. It would not have been as successful as it was because of the lawsuit and its ban.
