It produces a structured, colourful, tannic, slightly spicy wine. Area planted in 2002: 144 ha, area planted in 2005: 303.43 ha, and it is growing rapidly and steadily. With significant potential, it is cultivated in all the wine-growing cantons of French-speaking Switzerland except Fribourg. Cousin of Garanoir.
