Definition: Fruitière

Back

Term referring to a cooperative in the French Jura region.

The first fruitière was established in the Jura in 1906. As with cheese, all the fruits of the earth were harvested there, in a cooperative bringing together several farmers, including winegrowers.

Today, the five wine-growing cooperatives in the Jura are called fruitières.
