Definition: Fruit liqueur

Maceration of crushed fruit or berries in alcohol or brandy. The juice is filtered, sweetened, filtered again and bottled. The addition of natural flavourings and colourings is permitted, subject to specific regulations. The alcohol content is at least 15%, often 25%. Fruit creams are less alcoholic than liqueurs.
