Appellation of the Libournais region. Production area located about sixty kilometres east of Bordeaux, on the right bank of the Dordogne, on the border of the department of the same name, more precisely within the communes of Francs, Saint-Cibard and Tayac in the Gironde department. Classified as an AOC in 1936. Production area of nearly 460 hectares, including around 20 hectares planted with white grape varieties. White grape varieties: Muscadelle, Sauvignon and Sémillon; red grape varieties: Cabernet Franc, Côt (or Malbec) and Merlot. Mostly vinified as dry or sweet white wine and red wine. The red wine can be kept for 4 to 10 years. The ideal serving temperature for dry white wine is between 8 and 10°C, slightly lower for sweet wine; between 14 and 15°C for red wine. Pair with: red wine, game or poultry, or a lamb sauté.
