Its aim is to develop the cultural aspects of wine. As the profession is in high demand, the FIJEV tries to undertake only a limited number of projects (focusing on quality rather than quantity) in an atmosphere of conviviality and mutual support.
It includes some of the biggest names in the international wine press and regularly welcomes new members. Notoriety is not a criterion for membership of the FIJEV, but competence is.
In 2007, FIJEV had more than 520 members in 49 countries. Its statutes describe them as "journalists, editors and writers who specialise in wine and spirits".
However, for many of our members, particularly in certain countries, this activity is not always exclusive, even if it is fully recognised. Members are therefore required to clearly indicate in the directory the percentage of their time allocated to their "wine and spirits journalism" activities, as well as their occupations and the media outlets for which they work.
