Cooperage term. The bunghole itself, drilled in the lower part of the front bottom of a barrel. A slightly conical piece of wood or cork used to plug the hole in the bottom of a barrel intended to accommodate the tap. Depending on the region, this type of plug is called a fausset or douzième, and in Switzerland, a guillon.
