Definition: Earthing up

In very steep vineyards, heavy rainfall causes runoff, washing topsoil down the slopes. Winegrowers have always spent several days during the dormant season replacing this soil, formerly by hand, but now using mechanical means such as winches, tractors, helicopters, etc.
