Definition: Cubitainer

A modern, cubic container made of plastic or laminated cardboard, equipped with a tap for draining, used for small-scale transport of bulk wine. This type of packaging, developed in 1950, was used by individuals for bottling their own wine. These containers have been greatly improved. The outer packaging protects a flexible bag containing the wine. It is now possible to draw wine gradually without introducing air into the container. The risk of oxidation is eliminated. The cubitainer can be stored empty for one to two weeks.
