Back Coonawarra, which has been a wine-growing region since 1890, is now home to Australia's most expensive vineyards. It is here that most of the great Cabernet Sauvignons are produced, on the famous bright red Terra Rossa soils. Coonawarra is located about 60 kilometres inland, and the oceanic influence combined with the region's cool, dry summers allows all grape varieties to reach perfect maturity.
