Definition: Chenin blanc

Back
This grape variety, with its acidic grapes, needs plenty of sunshine. Although it originated in the Loire region, it is also found in New Zealand and South Africa. The wines produced from this grape are characterised by their freshness and fruitiness. Some are very dry, while others are very sweet. It takes fifteen years for them to reach their peak. Chenin blanc is also used to make sherry, port and brandy in South Africa.
