Beaujolais appellation. Production area located within the municipalities of Chénas, in the Rhône department, and La Chapelle-de-Guinchay in Saône-et-Loire. Classified as an AOC cru in 1936. Area under production: just over 280 hectares. Black grape varieties: Gamay. The incorporation of a certain number of white grape varieties such as Aligoté, Chardonnay and Melon into the vines intended for producing red wine is still authorised, provided that they do not exceed 15%. Vinified in red only. It can be kept for 5 to 6 years. Ideal serving temperature: between 14 and 15°C. Enjoy with pigeon and peas, roast quail, leg of lamb, kid, meat in sauce, veal chops with chestnuts and grapes, or with strong cheese or Beaujolais stew.
