Definition: cellar too warm

Back
Before installing anything, the first step is to insulate the entire room with insulation material of sufficient thickness. The cost of this insulation will quickly pay for itself by reducing air conditioning costs and increasing the life of the air conditioner. If your cellar is located in a room of the flat that is normally heated in winter and if the ceiling of your cellar is not also well insulated, the room above will be significantly cooled, which can be quite unpleasant, for example in an office, where you may feel the cold rising from the floor to an unbearable degree.
Once these prerequisites have been met, you can consider the type of air conditioner and, above all, how the heat produced by the unit will be removed. By far the best solution is to choose a location on an exterior wall of your cellar to avoid heating an adjoining room. When choosing an air conditioner, you should take the manufacturer's recommendations into account. We recommend choosing a model with twice the power of your cellar's volume. The unit must cool the ambient air as well as the contents and walls, including the ceiling. For example, if your cellar has a volume of 60 cubic metres, choose an air conditioner designed for 120 m3.
