Definition: brunello di montalcino

Back
One of the most prestigious wines in Tuscany and even in Italy, made from a Sangiovese clone. Many producers offer a thick wine with harsh tannins, requiring at least twenty years of ageing. However, Brunello is often macerated for too long, without destemming, acquiring tannins that are unable to blend. It is therefore better to choose wines that have benefited from the experience of the Super Tuscans and are bursting with fruitiness, evolving into a full-bodied, rich and complex flavour with fragrant, spicy nuances. Please note: they require at least ten years of ageing! See also Sangiovese.
