Definition: blanc de noirs

An expression used to describe white wines made from black grape varieties. These are mostly champagnes made from Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier grapes. Blancs de noirs can be produced by separating the juice, which is always colourless, from the skins of red grapes.
