Back White grape varieties: Muscadelle, Sauvignon and Sémillon, harvested when overripe through successive sorting. Vinified as: sweet white wine. All wines from the Barsac appellation d'origine contrôlée, classified in 1936, are eligible for the Sauternes AOC, unlike Sauternes wines, which are only eligible for the Sauternes AOC. The Sauternes vineyards are located on the left bank of the Garonne. Its undulating terrain alternates between hillsides and valleys, covering 2,000 hectares of vines. Barsac, with two premier crus and eight second crus, is renowned for its famous sweet wines, notably those from Château Climens and Château Coutet. Barsac is considered one of the best dessert wines in the world. Barsac is slightly less sweet and more fruity than Sauternes. It can be stored for 5 to 30 years, or even longer. The ideal serving temperature is between 6 and 8°C. Enjoy as an aperitif or with foie gras, or with dessert, such as a fruit tart.
