Definition: Auxerre

Abandoned after the phylloxera epidemic, the vineyards gave way to urbanisation. Today, only a few small, scattered vineyards remain, with no particular reputation.
Auxerrois is also the name of grape varieties, synonymous with Malbec in Cahors, Auxerrois blanc in Alsace, etc.
