Definition: anticlinal

A fold whose convexity faces upwards, in other words, shaped like an N. Opposite: Syncline. NB: Do not confuse relief and geological structure: a hill is rarely an anticline. However, there is one exception in the Orne department, where the Écouves signal is at the top of an anticline.
