Definition: anée

Back
Until the early 19th century, the ânée represented the load of wine that a donkey could carry. In Burgundy, for example, this measure corresponded to half a pièce or cenpote, or approximately 110 litres. In Provence, an equivalent load was known as a saumée, saumade or sommée.
