Viticulture

Average age of the vines: 35-40 years. Plot management of the soil and the vineyard. Integrated pest management (certified) and respect for environmental balance. Average yields: 50 hl/ha. Overlooking the Gironde, the vineyard of Château Meyney is situated on a slope that reaches an altitude of 20 metres. It also benefits from a vein of blue clay in the subsoil, about 2.6 metres deep and some 3 metres thick.

Oenology

After manual harvesting and sorting in the vineyard, the grapes are sorted in the cellar using an optical sorting device. The alcoholic fermentation is carried out after a few days of cold pre-fermentation maceration, the total duration of maceration being around 30 days before running off. Some of the wines undergo malolactic fermentation in new barrels. The whole of the first wine is matured in French oak barrels, between 16 and 18 months depending on the vintage, of which 30 to 40% are new each year.
