Very dark colour. Intense, rich nose with hints of blueberry and blackcurrant and a touch of liquorice. The palate has great finesse, with plenty of drive and caressing. It is long, satiny and continuous, with vibrant freshness and a superb aftertaste.

Viticulture

The heart of the estate comes from a large 53-hectare parcel overlooking the Gironde, adjacent to the best terroirs of Château Latour (l'Enclos). Another parcel of around 30 hectares, located a little further west, produces Clos du Marquis, which is not the 2nd wine of Léoville Las Cases, but another wine. The soil is deep Garonne gravel on alios. Planting density is 8,797 vines/ha. The average age of the vines is 30 years.

Oenology

The grapes are harvested by hand. After a vatting period of 15 to 20 days, vinification takes place in 50 to 100% new oak barrels for 18 to 20 months.
