Cuvée 746 represents the quintessence of what the House of Jacquesson is capable of offering today to wine lovers: a champagne of character and gastronomy, at once fulfilling and capable of becoming even more complex. It is all there: the crystalline colour, the pure and uncluttered nose of citrus fruits enhanced by spices and dried flowers, with a palate that is both voluminous and straightforward, very pure.

Technique

Viticulture

A cuvée made from the three Grands Crus and two Premiers Crus of the House. It is made only from the first press juices, then vinified in tuns, almost always without filtration. It has a remarkable ageing potential, which is why it is offered with two maturations (see late disgorgement).

Oenology

2018, harvest in Aÿ, Dizy, Hautvillers (68%), Avize and Oiry (32%): the winter was exceptionally rainy and the spring mild and stormy. The weather changed from June onwards and became fine and dry, resulting in a particularly early harvest: the picking began on August 30th and finished on September 11th. The state of health was perfect, the harvest was abundant with a very good maturity and moderate acidity. The wines obtained are particularly fine and elegant. 242,012 bottles produced, 9,770 magnums and 398 jeroboams. Dosage: 2 gr/l.

Domain

Fondée en 1798 par Memmie Jacquesson, voici une très ancienne maison de Champagne. C’est le fils de Memmie, Adolphe, qui a fait breveter le célèbre muselet qui empêche les bouchons de sauter et qui collabora avec Jules Guyot pour l’amélioration qualitative de la prise de mousse. Mais la maison doit son essor et sa réputation actuelle au dynamisme de Laurent et Jean-Hervé Chiquet, qui ont repris la propriété en 1988 des mains de leur père.

L’originalité de celle qui passe pour la plus petite des grandes maisons de Champagne réside dans son approvisionnement et dans l’élaboration d’une gamme de vins très cohérente articulée selon trois segments distincts : la 700 et suivante ; la même cuvée, mais en dégorgement tardif (15 à 20’000 bouteilles sont gardées chaque année et commercialisées 5 ans plus tard) et les parcellaires (Avize Champ Caïn, Aÿ Vauzelle Terme, Dizy Terres Rouges). Pas de Brut sans année chez Jacquesson, ni de cuvée de prestige.

Jacquesson possède 17 ha dans la Grande Vallée de la Marne, 11 ha en Côte des Blancs et complète ses approvisionnements par l’achat en raisins de l’équivalent de 7 ha. Détail important : tout est pressuré chez Jacquesson et les fournisseurs de raisins partagent la même philosophie qualitative.
